Navitas and Florida Atlantic University Launch Partnership to Bring Students from Around the World to Boca Raton

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 19, 2015

Navitas Limited and Florida Atlantic University (FAU) have officially launched their partnership which will build the institution’s global profile and increase international student enrollment at the University. The partnership welcomed the arrival of its first cohort of students today.

The pathway program for international students, called Navitas at Florida Atlantic University, is located on the University’s Boca Raton campus.

Pathway programs provide international students with personalized and highly supportive learning environment in which to acclimatize to the rigors of a US university degree program and prepare for long-term academic success. They are designed and delivered to address the unique needs of international students.

The first intake exceeded expectations and resulted in students from a wide range of countries as diverse as Vietnam, Bangladesh, Venezuela, Russia and South Korea.

The launch, hosted by FAU Provost Gary Perry and held in the FAU Stadium was attended by commencing students and staff of Navitas as well as University leaders and numerous members of the University community.

Navitas at FAU will offer undergraduate pathway and pre masters programs across a range of disciplines including accounting, arts and humanities, engineering, sciences, marketing and international business and trade. Students who successfully complete the pathway programs will be eligible to continue their studies in undergraduate and graduate degree programs at FAU.

“Florida Atlantic University is a vibrant and dynamic institution that is committed to pursuing excellence in scholarship and teaching across its multiple sites,” said Rod Jones, Group CEO of Navitas.

“We are very pleased to welcome the first students to Navitas at Florida Atlantic University, and wish them every success in their studies.”

Provost of FAU, Dr Gary Perry explained how critical Navitas’ involvement is to increasing international student numbers at the University.

“Navitas’ experience in international education will form a key part of our goal of growing out international student numbers to 10 per cent of the student population,” he said.

“Inviting more international students to join the FAU community offers the rest of the student body the opportunity to learn with, and from, their global peers, giving them an advantage in a highly connected world.”

Through Navitas’ extensive global recruitment network, the partnership will enhance the University’s ability to attract, prepare and inspire undergraduate and graduate students from around the world. FAU has a strong reputation as a teaching university and growing strengths in science related research fields, especially biomedicine, biotechnology, ocean engineering and coastline security. The university currently has approximately 600 international students.

Navitas at Florida Atlantic University is Navitas’ sixth university partnership in the US, joining the University of Massachusetts – Boston, Dartmouth and Lowell; the University of New Hampshire; and Western Kentucky University.

Johan Botha Happy With His New Role in Team

The Proteas off spinner Johan Botha said that, he was enjoying his new role of opening bowler in the ICC World Cup 2011. He is hoping for the same result in the quarter final match.

South Africa will play against New Zealand in the third match of the quarter finals on 25th March, 2011 at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. Graeme Smith chooses to open bowling Johan Botha instead of pacers like Morne Morkel and Dale Steyn, in their group match with West Indies and the gamble paid off as he got rid of dangerous Chris Gayle.

Johan Botha has not played initial matches of Proteas as Imran Tahir was preferred as a surprise package to all the teams. He was into the team for India match in Group B as Imran Tahir was injured his finger and rested. Johan Botha is used as an opening bowler in the last two group matches and he was not only successful in containing the flow of runs but also provided the early break throughs to the team needed.

Johan Botha has said that his role is to control the scoring rate as his fellow quickies and spinners are picking up the wickets. They have three spinners in the team and they all different from one another, Botha bowls off spin, Tahir with leggie and Petersen bowls left arm off spin. He also added that their bowling attack contains of world class pacers of Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel.

South Africa team has topped Group B with 10 points and losing only game against England. South Africa will face New Zealand in the knock out stage of ICC World Cup 2011, Kiwis finished at the bottom of Group A. As per the schedule, the top team from one group will face the team that finished last in other group. Spinners are the leading wicket takers for Proteas, Robin Petersen is the leading wicket taker for South Africa with 14 wickets followed by Imran Tahir with 12 and Dale Steyn with 10 wickets.

Illegal Child Marriage in Bangladesh Continues To Rise – How Can We Help?

Some have labelled it as modern day slavery. Child brides are forced to leave school, are rarely allowed to work and many become victims of domestic violence.

These young girls lose their freedom and childhood completely. Many also face serious health risks as their bodies are too young and underdeveloped for child bearing.
The experiences and effects of child marriage will be shown in a TV documentary featured on BBC World News GMT: Fri 27th April 13:30 and Sat 28th April 11:30 and 23:30; and on BBC News Channel BST:  Sat 28th April 05:30, 14:30, 21:30 and Sun 29th April 03:30, 10:30, 22:30.
Meet Oli – The 12 year old working to inspire others
Oli is just 12 years old and a sponsored child with children’s charity Plan. He is an inspirational member of one of their children’s groups in northern Dhaka who work to raise awareness of the impact of early and forced marriage on children. Oli is helping to make a huge difference to poverty stricken families in Bangladesh.
“Behind our parents’ decisions to marry girls young is poverty – extreme poverty. If our parents get a good offer, sometimes it is very difficult to change their minds,” explains Oli
There are 25 children in Oli’s organisation and Plan has 60 similar clubs across the country.
Plan has reached around one million people with its anti-child marriage work while Oli himself has reached about 50,000.
Nargis’ story – Forced into marriage at just 12 years old
“My name is Nargis and I’m 19. I was 12 when child marriage shattered all my dreams. My family arranged for me to be married: my father decided for me, and my husband’s father decided for him. There was no scope for me to say no.
“On the day itself I was frightened: again and again I felt fear, fear, fear. I didn’t know what to do, or what was going to happen next. Once my grandmother and sister had gone, I had to go and live with my husband. I didn’t know him. That night I felt strange, and very scared.
“When I lived with my parents I had freedom. After I was married I lost this, and I can’t live the same way now. I feel very bad, because instead of going to school I live at my father-in-law’s house and do all the household work.
“When I was at home I could share my feelings and emotions. Now that I’m married I don’t have any say and I have to abide by what my husband and my father and mother-in-law decide.
“Two years after my marriage, when I was 14, I gave birth to a baby boy, but there were complications after the birth. He survived for 16 days but then he died.
“When I was getting married, I had five close friends. Two are still in school, but three are married. I never see them now. When I was in school and with my friends, I was very happy: I really want to go back to school.
“I don’t think girls should marry before they’re 18. If they do, they face problems like I did with my baby. I want to tell other girls that the age I got married was not good for health, for family, for education – for anything.”
How is Plan helping in Bangladesh?
To help prevent forced child early marriage Plan has been working hard to issue birth certificates to girls across Bangladesh. Having a birth certificate helps girls to prove they’re not old enough to marry.
Plan is also working with state organisations and authorities to raise public awareness of the problem by holding open events, theatre shows and workshops. These events help to educate communities and explain why it is important that girls wait until they are over 18 to be married.

International Calls to Bangladesh Appreciable Growth in Terms of Infrastructure and Options!

Bangladesh is surging ahead at impressive speeds. For a nation that came into being only in 1971, this young nation has experienced overwhelming growth in practically all the sectors that matter. Today, Bangladesh is concentrating on not only its native industries starting with jute and jute products and other sectors, but has a vibrant and resourceful native population as well.

There is a sizable number of Bangladeshi diaspora staying in different foreign destinations starting with India, Pakistan, USA, UK, Middle East, etc. All in all, the situation is ripe and brimming to the core with potential for enough international calls to be made to Bangladesh locations.

Growth in Economy has resulted in a corresponding increase in demand for Cheap Call to Bangladesh According to the figures obtained from Wikipedia, there were 1.372 million PSTN or fixed line subscribers in this small country as on February, 2009. Besides, there are no less than six mobile phone network operators in Bangladesh as well. These includes a few local names like Grameenphone Ltd, Axiata Bangladesh Ltd, Sheeba Telecom as well as the Airtel Bangla Ltd. And by June, 2011, the number of mobile phone subscribers here had risen to the impressive figure of 76.43 million from its earlier sum of 45.21 million that existed in February, 2009.

Landlines, mobiles and internet telephony are all there now!

There has also been a parallel growth in the number of internet users that is showing a great upswing in the last few years. As per the data available from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the number of internet users in Bangladesh was 995,560 in the year 2010. This sum is out of a total population of 158,065,841 that existed in 2010 there. This is a growth o 0.6 per cent when compared with the corresponding figures for the previous year.

Therefore, the modern day Bangladesh is looking ahead in terms of phone connectivity with a sound and substantial infrastructure both in terms of hardware and software and the required technical personnel to run and operate them.

In recent years, the increase in the number of broadband users have resulted in a corresponding rise in the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) users. Internet telephony though a new phenomenon in this region, is showing all the right signs for a spontaneous and speedy rise in the coming years

3 Main Points To Consider While Creating A Profile On A Marriage Site In Bangladesh

With the development of Information Technology everyone is trying to utilize it to the maximum extent possible and in every possible aspect of our life. Today, this fervor is catching up in the marriage aspect too. The traditional way of searching a match through matchmakers or famously called the Ghatoks by the Bangladeshis, is reducing gradually and the online matchmaking is now widely preferred as it has many advantages to it and avoids much negativity found in the traditional method. For being eligible to find a match online you need to first register in a Marriage Site In Bangladesh which will act as your key to entering the online world of matchmaking.

But remember, simply registering won’t be of much benefit unless you make it attractive at the same time genuine too. While registering and preparing your profile you need to keep three major things in mind.

Choose the right site

Search the right Marriage Site In Bangladesh. There are many such sites now available online. Read and understand about these sites and then choose the right one for yourself.

Creating a First Impression

Your photo is your reflection in your absence and would speak volumes about you in a silent manner. It is the one that would be first seen while opening your profile and would create the needed First Impression. Many times proposed candidates may like your profile but would reject you because of the photograph. So be careful in choosing the right photograph. Post the recent one only to avoid any misunderstanding in the future. Always prefer to get the photograph taken by a professional photographer. Go for a photograph taken at a studio without settling for one clicked by an amateur.

Right profile with right contents

The next thing that has a major role in matchmaking is the contents of your profile. You should not rush up in this matter at all and do not take things easily in this matter. First of all, understand what the opposite party i.e. the prospective candidate would be looking for. Try to put yourself in their place and see what type of search criteria they would be using. Go through the various profiles available online, be thorough, understand the basics and the requirements in it. The main tips would be to – (i) be short and up to the point (ii) be truthful – do not over exaggerate nor under estimate yourself. Express yourself as y you are. (iii) understand certain sensitive areas and give broader detail instead of the exact ones. Say for eg. your salary. Mention it in a range rather than giving the exact amount. (iv) never give ambiguous or vague expressions especially when it comes to likes, dislikes and the kind of partner you expect.

Keeping your profile up to date. Don’t get over enthused while you start getting responses. Be prepared that many of them would come and you need to apply prudence to choose the right one. Always keep your profile updated from time to time. This will avoid unwanted rejections and misunderstandings to a great deal.

Cricket World Cup 2011, a sporting extravaganza

The Cricket World Cup 2011 is the tenth edition of the prestigious tournament which will be held in the host countries of India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The World Cup uses the One Day International configuration which has produced innumerable moments of exciting cricket. The national cricket teams of fourteen countries are scheduled to participate including the major cricketing nations – the full members of the International Cricket Council – as well as the leading non-members.

Australia has proved most successful in the tournament, winning the coveted trophy a total of four times. West Indies have lifted the trophy twice while Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka have all won the tournament once.

The Cricket World Cup has always been a successful and engrossing tournament. The inaugural World Cup was held in England in 1975, when a masterly West Indies side easily brushed aside the competition to attain victory. In the second World Cup held four years later, the West Indies maintained their dominance to repeat their feat.

In 1983 the seemingly indomitable West Indies once again appeared set to repeat their feat when they reached the final with the unheralded Indian side. A great surprise was in store; Kapil Dev’s Indians dethroned the West Indies in an epic win.

India and Pakistan hosted the tournament in 1987, and the tournament saw a very close final match between England and Australia which the latter team won by a margin of only 7 runs. The 1992 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand saw a new victor in Pakistan led by Imran Khan; this was the latter’s swansong in an illustrious career.

The championship of 1996 conducted in the Indian subcontinent saw an amazing performance from an underrated Sri Lanka side, convincingly achieving victory in cricket’s most prestigious showpiece.

The next three consecutive World Cups were won by Australia in convincing fashion, during a period of continued Australian dominance in international cricket.  In final matches they defeated, respectively, Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka in their unprecedented feat.

The Cricket World Cup is televised to 2.2 billion viewers in more than 200 countries, making it the third most popular sporting event in the world, exceeded only by the FIFA World Cup and the Summer Olympics.

Visitors arriving in Sri Lanka will be delighted by Jetwing Hunas Falls, a picturesque hotel in Kandywhich offers sumptuous luxuries in a scenic setting. This Sri Lanka honeymoon hotelis recognized as a romantic destination for newly wedded couples.

Think About The Fastest Ways To Send Money To Bangladesh

The Bangladesh currency is tightly controlled by the nation’s government, and has been in decline for the last ten years. It is called the taka, and $ 1 USD equals about 70 taka. Money can be exchanged widely throughout the country, especially at airports, banks, train stations, hotels, and locations called bureaux de change. In most cases, it is best to send your relatives funds in the form of taka rather than U.S. dollars, since that is what is most widely accepted.

You might first think to use a bank to send money to Bangladesh, either your own or a different financial institution. One example is Bank of America, which charges $ 45 to send an international wire transfer in U.S. funds, and $ 35 to do it in Bangladesh currency. You will need to supply your recipient’s name, their bank’s name and address, and their bank account number. They should check with their bank to find out if they will be charged money to receive the cash, since many do.

Bank of America has a specific rule for those who wish to send money to Bangladesh, and it is that customers must supply the recipient’s name, phone number, and instructions that state that the recipient will need to go to their bank and sign forms in order to receive the money. Additionally, be aware that Bangladesh is named on the list of countries that are notorious for being slow to pay out funds, in which case it could take up to three weeks for your recipient to get the cash. Clearly, if you need to send money to Bangladesh quickly, a bank might not be your best option.

There is one method that might be faster, and that is the prepaid debit card. You can usually mail one out to your relatives and add money to it by phone or Internet, and they start using it immediately. It might take about a week for them to get it, but the funds are available within a day, which means this is likely still more convenient than a bank. You could also plan ahead and simply send them the card before they even need money. This way, if they ever have an emergency, you can add money to the card and they can start spending it almost immediately. The fee is $ 5 each time you add money. In general, cards are widely accepted in Bangladesh, but some small towns have few or no ATMs or retailers that take cards. However, if your recipient lives in a larger city like Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna, Bogra, Sylhet, or Narayangani, they will probably appreciate having a prepaid debit card since they can use it often.

If you need to send money to Bangladesh fast, some methods just will not work. A bank might seem like a safe bet, but the fact that most banks in the area take weeks to disburse funds could be inconvenient. Thinking outside the typical methods could help, which is why considering newer options like a prepaid debit card might be just what you need.
